Overview:
This monthly shoot is structured toward those new to as well as experienced with CCW. This monthly meeting/shoot will focus on reviewing the fundamental skill sets needed to confidently, safely, and legally carry a concealed handgun on a regular basis. This is not a CCW preparation or qualification course. The shoot will include group discussion and both live and dry-fire presentation and defensive action drills, altogether designed to enhance the critical thinking, mental awareness, form and function necessary for competent everyday-carry. Range time includes exercises through which participants will practice safe and proper concealed handgun handling procedures in shoot/no-shoot scenario drills.
Requirements:
- Shooters must be current, licensed California CCW permit holders, and have their permit on their person, available for inspection and confirmation.
- All shooters must carry self-defense liability insurance on their person, available for inspection and confirmation.
- All shooters must arrive to the shoot carrying their concealed handgun with proper concealment.
- Safe and proper unloading will be demonstrated, supervised and orchestrated altogether on the firing line prior to engaging with this shoot, reloading with a practice ammunition magazine, and then rearming back to EDC ammunition at the conclusion of the event.
- All handguns used must be listed on participant’s current CCW permit.
Equipment:

- Handgun, as listed on one’s CCW permit. No derringers or shotgun pistols.
- Holster, OWB or IWB, attached to your person at 2,3, or 4; 8,9,or 10 o’clock on firing side hip. No spine, cross-draw, ankle, shoulder holster, purse, wallet, fanny pack, pocket or groin carry.
- At least 2 magazines, extra magazine(s) carried on support side.
- Adequate Eye and Ear Protection; a ball cap is recommended for sun/drizzle protection.
- No flip-flops or sandals; only closed-toed shoes, sneakers or boots for a firm footing.
- 200 rounds ammunition*. – .22, .25, .380, .32, .38, .357, 9 or 10mm, .40, .44 or 45 cal. No Casull.
* Steel is NOT permitted in any projectiles. If you are unsure, test your ammunition with a magnet.
Event Description:
- Shooters must be signed in and be geared up by 0800 am!
- This event is designed to be a monthly skill builder training and refresher for CCW holders.
- The shoot will include discussion and comment on any recent CCW incidents, reviewing aspects of CA CCW law, and various questions anyone may have about CCW.
- The event will incorporate various scenario training exercises that will involve practice for mental awareness, threat assessment, safe holster draw, movement, target discrimination, periodic rapid fire, trigger control, aftermath threat assessment and safe re-holstering.
- This event is not a competition; it is merely building individual CCW skills, confidence and competence.
- Cardboard and paper targets (metal stands, wood frames) will be placed at 5 to 10 yards.
- Courses of fire will at times involve multiple targets.
- Some targets will have a human shape, outlining ocular-cranial and thoracic cavity foci.
- Targets will be scored and taped after each shooter completes the course of fire.
- Open or closed concealment required for all shooters, ie. shooter’s vest or jacket, shirt or t-shirt.
