The High-Power Rifle Match is a 100-yard, 4-position course of fire. The match has prone, sitting, kneeling, and off-hand stages of fire, with a total of 40 shots for score and unlimited sighting-in shots. Each position uses ten shots for score. Extra shots on a bulls-eye result in the lowest ten scoring shots being counted for score. Time limit for the entire match is one hour. If a target change is required mid-match, the time needed for the target change is not part of the one-hour course of fire time limit.
Any legal center-fire, cartridge-firing rifle, regardless of caliber or action, is acceptable. Competitors may use open (iron), aperture (peep), or rifle scopes for sights. Slings are allowed except in the off-hand position. No artificial supports are allowed. Hearing and eye protection are required. The A25/3 target, with three bullseyes having scoring rings from 5 to 10 with a center X-circle in the 10-ring is used. Shot holes breaking a scoring ring receive the higher ring score. The X-ring is used to break ties. Each competitor will receive two targets to provide the four bullseyes needed for scoring. Competitors may retain their targets after they are scored and recorded.
The intent of the match is to improve your marksmanship skills and have fun while doing it. The Match Director and on-site Range Safety Officers help ensure a safe and enjoyable shooting experience for the entire family.
